Oakville Neighbourhoods

Bronte Creek

The Bronte Creek neighbourhood is bounded by the QEW to the South, Bronte Provincial Park to the West, Dundas Street to the North and Bronte Road to the East.

This upscale community offers newer single and semi-detached homes, as well as freehold and condo townhomes. This neighbourhood enjoys ample parks and ravines, convenient shopping and amenities and will be home to the new Oakville Hospital scheduled for completion in 2016. Bronte Creek offers easy access to Highways 407 and QEW. The nearest GO Transit Station is Bronte GO located on Wyecroft Road near Third Line.

Westmount

Westmount is bounded by Bronte Road to the West, Dundas Street to the North, Third Line to the East and Upper Middle Road to the South.

Westmount is an attractive neighbourhood for young families, with new schools and recreation facilities and ample parks and greenspaces. Modern detached homes make up most of the housing inventory here as the area has undergone significant redevelopment over the last 7 years. Westmount offers easy assess to Highways 407 and QEW. GO Transit is located at the Oakville GO (Cross Avenue near Trafalgar Road) and Bronte GO (Wyecroft Road near Third Line). 

West Oak Trails

West Oak Trails is bounded by Third Line to the West, Dundas Street to the North, 16 Mile Creek to the East and Upper Middle Road to the South.

West Oak Trails is one of Oakville’s most popular neighbourhoods for active young families. Home to the Pine Glen Soccer Centre, great new schools, recreation centres, libraries and so much more. Houses here are mainly detached homes and townhomes built within the last 10 years. West Oak Trails offers easy access to Highways 407 and QEW. GO Transit is located at the Oakville GO (Cross Avenue near Trafalgar Road) and Bronte GO (Wyecroft Road near Third Line).

Glen Abbey

Glen Abbey is bounded by the QEW to the South, Bronte Road to the West, Upper Middle Road to the North and the 16 Mile Creek to the East.

The Glen Abbey neighbourhood was predominantly built in the mid 80’s and 90’s with homes ranging from condo apartments to large detached homes on wooded or ravine lots. Glen Abbey is a sought after as an established community with great schools and recreational facilities. Glen Abbey Recreation Centre and Library is a huge complex offering swimming, fitness, a hockey arena as well as the Oakville Gymnastics Club facility. 

Of course, the prestigious Glen Abbey Golf Course plays a big part in the overall feel of this community, which has proudly hosted the Canadian Open Golf Championships on many occasions. Glen Abbey offers easy access to Highways 403 and QEW. The nearest GO Transit Station is Bronte GO, located on Wyecroft Road near Third Line. 

River Oaks

The River Oaks neighbourhood is bounded by Dundas Street to the North, Trafalgar Road to the East, Upper Middle Road to the South and 16 Mile Creek to the West.

River Oaks is a popular choice for trendy young professionals and young families. It offers a suburban feel with ample greenspace and unparalleled amenities. Housing here includes low and high-rise apartments, freehold and condo townhomes, semi-detached and detached homes mostly constructed within the last 10 years.

River Oaks is close to Sheridan College and the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, which offers a hockey arena, soccer fields and a leash-free dog park. The complex will continue to add more services such as a splash pad, fitness facilities and library in the coming years.

The North East section of River Oaks is the Oak Park Community, now designated the Uptown Core for all North Oakville. Many large-scale retailers and restaurants have found a home here. River Oaks offers convenient access to all major highways. GO Transit and Via Rail can be linked to through the Oakville Transit Station located at Dundas Street and Trafalgar Road in the Uptown Core. 

Wedgewood Creek

Wedgewood Creek is bounded by Trafalgar Road to the West, Upper Middle Road to the South, Eight Line to Glen Ashton (where it turns east to Grand Blvd) and Dundas Street to the North.

This neighbourhood is a favourite for young families with mostly 2-storey detached homes. Residents enjoy the Iroquois Ridge Community Centre and Library, an abundance of athletic and recreational activities and great parks and trails. Wedgewood Creek offers easy access to all major highways, as well as access to GO Transit and Via Rail through Oakville Transit.

Joshua Creek

Joshua Creek is bounded by Eighth Line to the West, Ninth Line to the East, Dundas Street to the North and Glen Ashton to the South.

Joshua Creek is a newer community first developed in the mid 1990’s and is mainly comprised of families in detached homes. The community offers ample parks, trails and green space, as well as the fully equipped Iroquois Ridge Community Centre. Residents have convenient access to highways and Oakville Transit via the Uptown Core Station.

College Park

College Park is bounded by 16 Mile Creek to the West, Upper Middle Road to the North, Trafalgar Road to the East and the QEW to the South.

College Park offers some of the most affordable housing in Oakville, with much of the real estate inventory being built in the 70’s and early 80’s. Homes range from bungalows and side-splits, to two-storey detached homes. There are also numerous townhomes and high-rise apartments perfect for first-time buyers and empty-nesters. College Park is home to Sheridan College and Oakville Place Mall, as well as many other amenities. Highway and transit access is easy and convenient.

Falgarwood

Falgarwood is bounded by Trafalgar Road to the West, Upper Middle Road to the North, Ninth Line to the East and QEW Highway to the South.

This mature community offers mostly moderately priced bungalows and 2-storey homes, but there are also affordable townhomes available. The neighbourhood offers Upper Oakville Shopping Centre, numerous parks and the PGA Golf Centre, as well as easy access to highways and transit.

Bronte

Bronte is bounded by Lake Ontario to the South, Burloak Drive to the West, Bronte Creek the East and the QEW Highway to the North.

The charm and character of Bronte Village’s rich history is evident today in the harbor and quaint downtown core. Many of the original cottages have been redeveloped to large custom estate homes. The Bronte community offers condo apartments along Lake Ontario and recently developed sub-divisions such as Lakeshore Woods. Shell Park provides a large green space including soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a BMX/Skateboard park, and an off-leash area for dogs.
Bronte residents have easy access to the QEW highway and the closest GO Train Station is Bronte GO located on Wyecroft Road near Third Line.

West Oakville

West Oakville is bounded by Bronte Creek to the West, Speers Road to the North, Dorval Drive to the East and Rebecca Street to the South.

The vast majority of homes in West Oakville are detached bungalows, side-splits and two-stories built between 1940 and the early 1960’s. These homes are situated on large lots with mature trees making them prime candidates for extensive renovations or complete re-build. This neighbourhood enjoys excellent schools and easy access to Oakville’s bustling downtown. For those interested in French Immersion education, Pine Grove Public School is a popular choice. The newly renovated Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre offers countless programs for everyone.

This area is most accessible to the QEW highway. Oakville Transit provides public transit throughout this neighborhood. GO Trains can be accessed at either the Oakville Station or Bronte Station. 

South West Oakville

South West Oakville is bounded by Third Line to the West, Rebecca Street to the North, Dorval Drive to the East and Lake Ontario to the South and is comprised of two distinct neighbourhoods – Coronation Park and South West.

The Coronation Park neigbourhood is named after the park located on the shores of Lake Ontario which hosts an annual Waterfront Festival and offers walking paths, a water park and sandy play areas for young families. Homes in this area were generally built in the 50’s and 60’s on large, mature lots and as such are prime candidates for renovations and updates. Libraries, schools and the South Oakville Mall are easily accessible. The South Oakville Mall is currently undergoing updates and the addition of new retailers and restaurants.

Homes in the South West neighbourhood were also built in the 50’s and 60’s. This is an affluent neighbourhood, with the lands bordering the lake being redeveloped into posh residential communities, while smaller homes have been renovated, expanded or replaced with new custom homes. Appleby College and Oakville’s YMCA are also favourable draws to this community. South West Oakville offers easy access to the QEW Highway and GO Trains can be accessed at both the Oakville Station or Bronte Station. 

Ford

The Ford area is bounded by Maple Grove Dr. to the west, Cornwall Rd. to the north, Winston Churchill Blvd. to the east, and Lake Ontario to the south.

Ford is a traditional family neighbourhood ideal for city commuters because of it’s easy access to highways and GO Transit. Ford is home to many stunning lakefront estates, as well as Oakville Trafalgar High School, one of Oakville’s top ranked schools. Lot sizes tend to be larger in the south and these areas see many renovations and new custom home construction. 

Central Oakville

Central Oakville is bounded by Speers Road to the North, Dorval Drive to the West, 16 Mile Creek to the East and Lake Ontario to the South.

Central Oakville offers a variety of homes - a mix of old and new construction, from condos and townhomes to beautiful lakefront estates. The neighbourhoods demographics are as varied as the housing. Residents enjoy walking to downtown Oakville or Kerr Street Village for shopping, restaurants and other amenities. Central Oakville offers easy access to the QEW Highway and GO Trains can be accessed at both the Oakville Station or Bronte Station.

Old Oakville

Old Oakville is bounded by the QEW Highway to the North, Chartwell Road to the East, 16 Mile Creek to the West and Lake Ontario to the South.

Old Oakville is the town’s original community and many historical homes, parks and buildings are found here. Tree-lined streets add to the neighbourhood’s charm where residents enjoy walking to libraries, art galleries, shops and restaurants. The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and Oakville Trafalgar Hospital are located in Old Oakville. The Oakville Harbour is an important part of this neighbourhood with a strong sailing and power boating community in the summer months. Old Oakville is a diverse and affluent community with a large variety of homes ranging from multi-million dollar lakefront estates, custom homes, historic homes and cottages, as well as luxury condominiums and townhomes.

Morrison

Morrison is bounded by Cornwall Road to the North, Maple Grove Road to the East, Chartwell Road to the West and Lake Ontario to the South.

With it’s beautiful tree-lined streets, large lot sizes and impressive architecture, Morrison is one of Oakville’s most popular and expensive neighbourhoods. All the amenities of Old Oakville are close by, as well as lakefront walking trails and Whole Foods. Although there are some small parks scattered throughout Morrison, Gairloch Gardens remains the main greenspace for the area. This waterfront haven includes an art gallery, beautifully maintained gardens and picturesque views of the lake. Morrison is recognized as having some of the best schools in Oakville. Residents have quick access to Highway 403 and the QEW Highway.
